|CDR Elaine A. Brunelle
Commander Brunelle is a native of Pawtucket, RI and joined the Air Force in 1988. She is a 1998 graduate of New Mexico State University and was commissioned via Officer Candidate School, Pensacola, Florida.
Her initial sea duty assignment was in August 1999 to USS DAVID R RAY (DD 971) serving as the Electrical Officer. In August 2001 she reported to the Pre-Commissioning Unit, USS SHOUP (DDG 86) as the ships Ordnance Officer and soon took over the duties as the Anti-Terrorism / Force Protection Officer after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Subsequent assignments at sea included Engineering Officer in USS FORD (FFG 54) from 2006 to 2008, Executive Officer MCM Crew LEADER in USS DEXTROUS (MCM 13), USS PIONEER (MCM 9) and USS ARDENT (MCM 12) from 2008 to 2009.
Commander Brunelle had command of MCM Crew LEADER and USS ARDENT (MCM 12) while deployed to the FIFTH Fleet AOR in September 2009. Upon returning to San Diego in February 2010 she took command of USS CHIEF (MCM 14) and USS WARRIOR (MCM 10), respectively. She completed a successful command tour in January 2011.
From January 2011 thru July 2012 she was with Expeditionary Strike Group Three (ESG3) as the Flag Secretary / N1 ACOS for RDML Earl Gay and RDML Gerard Hueber. Her most recent afloat tour from June 2014 thru January 2015 was as the Executive Officer in USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61) completing a FOURTH Fleet Deployment and an accelerated decommissioning.
Ashore, Commander Brunelle completed her tour with Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command where she served as the Mine Warfare Commander Battle Staff Current Operations Officer from August 2012 to November 2013. Initial shore duty assignment was to the Afloat Training Group Pacific Northwest from May 2003 to April 2006 where she served as the Topside Warfare Department Head, Training Officer (TLO), Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Afloat Training Officer and Administration Officer, responsible for preparing staff and the crews on board the ships in the Pacific Northwest for the rigors of deployment.
Commander Brunelle holds a Master Degree in Public Administration earned from the University of Washington. Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (five awards) as well as other personal and unit level awards and citation.
