USS Pinckney CMC (December 16, 2010 - February 25, 2013) 
CMDCM(SW/AW) Claro D. Munar
Command Master Chief (December 2010 - February 2013)

Native of the Philippines and a graduate of the Mapua Institute of Technology, CMDCM(SW/AW) Claro D. Munar entered active duty on February 1989. He attended Recruit Training, followed by Electrician’s Mate “A” school at Great Lakes, IL.
His first duty assignment was on USS DURHAM (LKA-114), where he participated in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His follow-on tours included USS ACADIA (AD-42), and Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity (SIMA), San Diego. After SIMA, he executed orders to USS BOXER (LHD-4), where he was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He transferred to USS BUNKER HILL (CG-52) as Electrical Division LCPO, and was later advanced to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He then received orders to USS MOBILE BAY (CG-53), where he deployed in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, assuming duties as Engineering Department Leading Chief. That was followed by a tour at Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) San Diego, as Cruiser Ships’ Maintenance Team and Electrical Branch Production LCPO. During that assignment, he attained the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. In December 2006, Master Chief Munar reported to USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD-8), where he served as Engineering Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and was later selected to the Command Master Chief Program.
Master Chief Munar was a recipient of the Academic Excellence Award at the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 120 – Khaki), and a graduate of the CMC/COB course (Class 79) in Newport, RI. His personal awards include four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and various unit, service and campaign awards.
