Command Master Chief

A native of McLemoresville, Tennessee, Master Chief Tummins graduated from West Carroll High School in 1996. He entered the Navy in May of 1996 and completed Basic Instruction at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois in July 1996. In June of 1997, he completed Radioman “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois.

For his first assignment, He reported to USS UNDERWOOD (FFG 36), homeported in Mayport, Florida. He completed two deployments to the Sixth Fleet Area of Responsibility. He attained his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist qualification and advanced to Second Class Petty Officer during this tour.

Following this assignment, He reported to USS STOUT (DDG 55), homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. He completed one deployment to the Fifth Fleet Area of Responsibility. Additionally, he advanced to First Class Petty Officer.

Master Chief Tummins then transferred to NAVY-MARINE CORPS INTRANET FORD ISLAND, Hawaii in 2002. He completed certifications in CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, and Microsoft Certified Systems Administration. He advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2004.

In 2005, He reported to USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61), homeported in Everett, Washington. During this time, he executed duties as Department and Division Leading Petty Officer, and Manager of the Command Managed Equal Opportunity Program. He completed two deployments to the Fifth Fleet Area of Responsibility and advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2008. Following this tour, He graduated the Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, Rhode Island as a member of Class 144 (Gold).

In 2009, Senior Chief Tummins reported to NAVAL COMPUTER AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS AREA MASTER STATION, ATLANTIC as the Division Leading Chief Petty Officer for the world’s largest message processing facility. During this tour, he selected to the Command Senior Chief Program and qualified as an Enlisted Information Dominance Specialist.

After completion of the Command Leadership School Command master Chief course, Class 106, Master Chief Tummins assumed the duties as Command Senior Chief for MINE COUNTER MEASURES CREW DOMINANT in October 2012. During this tour, He embarked USS GLADIATOR (MCM 11), USS CHIEF (MCM 14), and USS WARRIOR (MCM 10). He completed two deployments to the Arabian Gulf and was selected for Master Chief.

In March 2014, He assumed the duties as Command Master Chief of USS CHAFEE (DDG 90) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

His personal awards include the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two gold stars in lieu of third award), Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three gold stars in lieu of fourth award), and various campaign and unit commendations. Additionally, He is a graduate of Hawaii Pacific University with an Associates of Supervisory Leadership.
