Master Chief Snyder, a native of Bolivia, South America, enlisted in the United States Navy in November, 1990. Following completion of Recruit Training in San Diego, California he reported to Air Traffic Controller “C” school in Millington, Tennessee. Upon graduation, he reported for duty onboard the US Naval Air Station, Bermuda.
In 1996, Master Chief Snyder converted ratings to Data Systems Technician (DS) and reported to Naval Training Center Great Lakes, where he completed both the Navy Combat Systems Technical Core and the DS “A” schools. In January, 1997, after graduating from a follow-on “C” school in Dam Neck, Virginia, he reported for duty aboard the USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70). In 1998, when the Navy closed out the DS rating, he was designated as a Firecontrolman (FC). Subsequent FC assignments include Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic in Dam Neck, Virginia; USS VELLA GULF (CG 72); AEGIS Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, Virginia; and, most recently, USS COWPENS (CG 63) where he served as Combat Systems Maintenance Manager.
Master Chief Snyder is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Capstone Course. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in technology management from Saint Leo University; and a Masters in Business Administration from Troy University. Additionally, Master Chief Snyder is qualified as an Enlisted Surface and Aviation Warfare Specialist, and is certified as a Master Training Specialist. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
