Commander Cesari is a native of Potomac, Maryland and graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Political Science in 1996.
She served at sea as Ordnance Officer and plank owner aboard USS DECATUR (DDG 73), Combat Information Center Officer and Assistance Operations Officer aboard USS CORONADO (AGF 11), and as Operations Officer aboard USS ROBERT G BRADLEY (FFG 49) and USS CAPE ST GEORGE (CG 71). Additionally, she served as Flag Secretary to Commander, U.S. SEVENTH Fleet, embarked aboard USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19) prior to reporting to USS SHOUP (DDG 86) as Executive Officer. She assumed command of USS SHOUP in December 2012.
Ashore, Commander Cesari participated in the Leadership, Education and Development Program (LEAD) in Annapolis, Maryland and earned a Master of Science degree in Leadership and Human Resource Development, awarded by the Naval Postgraduate School in 2002. She then served as the Fourth Company Officer at the United States Naval Academy. Additionally, attended the Naval War College from 2009 through 2010 and earned a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies.
Her awards include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medals and various unit and service awards.
