Senior Enlisted Leader
Senior Chief Petty Officer Jason P. DeGraaf is a native of Suffern, New York. He enlisted in the Navy and reported to RTC Great Lakes, Ill., in April 1999. Upon completion of boot camp, he attended Mess Management “A” school before reporting to the Basic Enlisted submarine School in Groton, Conn.
DeGraaf’s operational assignments include tours as the Dive Division and Food Services Division Leading Petty Officer on board USS Honolulu (SSN 718) and Supply Department Leading Chief Petty Officer on board USS Barry (DDG 52).
His shore assignments include terms as the enlisted aide to Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, PMT Division Leading Chief Petty Officer at Fleet Readiness Center Norfolk, Va., and as an enlisted aide to both Vice President Dick Cheney and Vice President Joe Biden.
DeGraaf reported aboard USS Shoup (DDG 86) in March 2012 as the Supply Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and Food Service Division Leading Culinary Specialist. He is currently serving as the ship’s senior enlisted leader.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), the Navy Good Conduct Medal (four awards), and numerous unit and campaign ribbons.
