Commanding Officer

Bryant Trost is a Colorado native and graduated from Golden High School in 1992. He attended the Naval Academy, graduating in 1996 with a BS in General Science and minor in Spanish.
Following commissioning he participated in a seven month training deployment onboard the Chilean Navy sail training ship ESMERALDA. Commander Trost’s initial surface warfare division officer tour was onboard USS COMTE DE GRASSE as the Electronic Warfare Officer.
During this tour, the “Count” completed a UNITAS deployment in to the Southern Command Area of Responsibility. In June 1998 he reported to Pre-Commissioning Unit PORTER as the Ordnance Officer. He became PORTER’s Navigator in March 2000, serving through the ship’s initial workups and maiden deployment.
Commander Trost reported to USS SHOUP as Operations Officer in spring 2003. During this tour SHOUP completed a counter-narcotic deployment, Strike Group workups and surge deployment with ABRAHAM LINCOLN Strike Group. His second Department Head tour was as Operations Officer onboard USS MOBILE BAY from January 2005 through September 2006. During this tour, MOBILE BAY was the Air Defense Commander for ABRAHAM LINCOLN Strike Group during workups and a Western Pacific deployment.
Ashore CDR Trost has served as an instructor at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, Fallon, NV, as an Individual Augmentee at Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa, on the OPNAV Staff in Washington, DC and as the Fleet Plans Officer at Canadian Fleet Pacific in Esquimalt, BC as part of the Personnel Exchange Program.
Commander Trost served as Executive Officer onboard USS SHOUP from December 2012 through May 2014.
