Command Master Chief
Command Master Chief David Tokarski hails from Woonsocket, Rhode Island. He graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1989 and immediately entered the Navy in March of 1990. He attended Recruit Training and Seaman ATD in Great Lakes, IL. He served as a deck seaman aboard USS GUAM (LPH 9) in September of 1990, before striking into the Quartermaster rating.
His subsequent tours include USS RODNEY M DAVIS (FFG 60) as a Quartermaster, DMO Atsugi, Japan were he served as the Leading Petty Officer and advance to First Class Petty Officer. In 1999, QM1 Tokarski transferred to the USS FORT McHENRY (LSD 43) where he earned his ESWS and Senior Sailor of the Year, and was advanced to Chief Petty Officer. In 2004 Chief Tokarski transferred to Recruit Training Command to become a company commander to help transform over 500 civilians into Sailors.
In 2005, Chief Tokarski served as the Leading Chief Petty Officer for Navigation Department onboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) where he earned his EAWS and was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer. He then transferred in 2008 to USS BATAAN (LHD 5). Notably during these tours he was hand selected to fill critical Navigation Department leadership gaps onboard USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) in 2005, USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) in 2008, USS PONCE (LPD 10) in 2009.
Senior Chief Tokarski graduated from Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 156 “Blue”) in December 2010, and the Command Master Chief /Chief of the Boat Course in December of 2012. He reported to USS WARRIOR (MCM 10) as Senior Enlisted Leader in February 2013, and was selected to Master Chief in May 2013. He assumed the duties as the USS McCAMPBELL (DDG 85) Command Master Chief in August, 2015.
He earned an Associate’s in General Studies and Management Studies from University of Maryland, and a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Trident University.
His personal awards include the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), Joint Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medals (four awards)
