Welcome Aboard

Congratulations on your orders to the finest warship in the Pacific, USS HOWARD DDG-83, home ported in sunny San Diego, California. HOWARD is currently assigned to the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group. You will be sent a welcome aboard package in which you will find information on the Family Service Center , NAVSTA San Diego , MWR , Military Family Housing office , the HOWARD Ombudsman etc. We hope it will help out with some of the questions that you might have.

If the ship is underway when you arrive, report to Transient Personnel Unit (TPU), TPU is located in two buildings on Naval Station. The first is Building 57 on the "wet side" of Naval Station. The north end of the building houses the executive suite, legal offices, the CMC, and the CCC. The south end houses our disciplinary barracks. The second facility is Building 3142, also known as Brunton Hall, on the "dry side" of Naval Station. The building is located directly opposite of the Naval Station Galley. TPU will provide you with assistance with getting to the ship.
