NSFS FIREX Training Aboard USS Howard (DDG 83) 
 

UNDERWAY (January 13, 2011) – USS HOWARD (DDG 83) fires its MK45 MOD4 Lightweight Gun System in support of its Naval Surface Fire Support (NSFS) certification.  Additionally, HOWARD participated in a training exercise with US Marine air and ground units, providing surface fire spotting services.  A member of Destroyer Squadron Seven, HOWARD is homeported in San Diego, CA. (Photo taken by LT j.g.
