Command Master Chief
Master Chief Petty Officer Morgan is a native of Buckingham, Illinois. He graduated high school in 1988 and enlisted in the Navy that same year.
Master Chief Morgan graduated from basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL and Hull Maintenance Technician “A” School, in Philadelphia, PA. He arrived at Pre-Commissioning unit USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72), in October 1988.
In April 1990, he transferred to the Pre-Commissioning unit USS GETTYSBURG (CG-64). He was advanced to Petty Officer 3rd Class in 1990 and Petty Officer 2nd Class in 1991 while assigned as the work center supervisor and during which time the GETTYSBURG earned the Battle “E”. After attending Advanced Welding School and earning NEC 4955 he reported to Maintenance Support Subase, Pearl Harbor, HI in December 1993.
In December 1997, Master Chief Morgan reported to USS CUSHING (DD 985) where he served as the Leading Petty Officer for the General Workshop, earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist designation, and advanced to Petty Officer 1st Class in 1999. His next duty station was onboard USS KITTYHAWK (CV-63) in January 2001, where he was advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2002. Master Chief Morgan then reported to Center for Naval Engineering, Great Lakes, IL, for duty as HT “A” School instructor, earning his Master Training Specialist qualification, Associates in Applied Science Degree Marine Engineering from Coastline Community College, as well as being selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2005.
In July 2007, he reported to USS FRANK CABLE (AS-40) where he served as the Divisional Leading Chief Petty Officer of Repair Division and was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer in 2010. In September 2010 he reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL, where he served as the Technical Training Department Leading Chief Petty Officer in charge of Battle Stations 21, Simulated and Live Fire Weapons Training, Basic Fire Fighting, Water Survival Training, Seamanship, Physical Fitness Assessments, and Basic Naval Orientation training.
Master Chief Morgan was selected to Command Master Chief program in 2013 and is a graduate of both the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 154/ Gold Group), and Command Master Chief Course. He reported on board the USS HOWARD (DDG 83) as the Command Master Chief in November of 2013.
Master Chief Morgan’s military decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), as well as numerous unit citation and service awards.
