Command Master Chief

Command Master Chief Battle is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He entered naval service in October of 1996 and graduated from Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL in December 1996. Following basic training he attended Operations Specialist “A” School, in Dam Neck,VA. He then arrived to USS PELELIU (LHA-5) in June 1997. During his tour he completed two Western Pacific deployments, advanced to 2nd Class Petty Officer and earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist designation.

In March 2000, Master Chief Battle reported to USS HURRICANE (PC-3) where he served as Combat Information Center Officer completing two Southern Pacific deployments and numerous Pacific North West patrols. After a successful tour he then served at Assault Craft Unit FIVE for 11 years and is a Subject Matter Expert in the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) program. Rapidly qualified to LCAC Craftmaster, he served as Detachment LCPO, and Training Department LCPO earning his Master Training Specialist qualification and advancing to Master Chief Petty Officer.

Master Chief Battle was selected to Command Master Chief program in 2015 and is a graduate of both the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 154/ Khaki Group) and Command Master Chief Course. He reported on board the USS HOWARD (DDG 83) as the Command Master Chief in October of 2015.

Master Chief Battle’s military decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), as well as numerous unit citation and service awards.
