|CDR Amy McInnis
Commander Amy McInnis is a native of Corry, Pennsylvania. After graduating from high school she attended Duquesne University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. She enlisted in the United States Navy in 1993, attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned an Ensign in February 1998.
CDR McInnis’ enlisted tour was in USS ASHLAND (LSD 48) where she served as a Radioman Second Class Petty Officer from September 1994 to October 1997. Her initial division officer tour was in USS PORTER (DDG 78) where she served as Auxiliaries and Machinery Officer from November 1998 to October 2000. Her follow on division officer tour was in USS HEWITT (DD 966) from November 2000 to July 2001, where she served as Training Officer. She served her department head tour in USS HIGGINS (DDG 76) as Weapons and Combat Systems Officer from June 2005 to October 2007.
During those sea tours, she participated in a UNITAS and West Africa Training Cruise and three Carrier Strike Group deployments to the Persian Gulf.
Ashore, CDR McInnis was assigned to Afloat Training Group Pacific in San Diego, CA where she served as a Training Liaison Officer from July 2001 to June 2003. She next attended the University of San Diego from May 2003 to July 2004 under the Graduate Education Voucher Program where she earned a Master of Science degree in Global Leadership. She attended Naval War College from November 2007 to November 2008 where she earned a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. She was assigned to the Navy Staff in Washington, DC where she served as Protocol Officer to the Vice Chief of Naval Operations from January 2009 to April 2011. She was next assigned to Commander, U.S. THIRD FLEET where she served as the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Officer from May 2011 to June 2013.
Her decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and various unit citations and campaign awards.
