|CDR Thomas G. Chekouras
A native of Santa Cruz, CA. CDR Tom Chekouras was commissioned in 1998 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
At sea, CDR Chekouras served as Damage Control Assistant in USS FORD (FFG 54), Training Officer in USS ROOSEVELT (DDG 80), Chief Engineer in USS NITZE (DDG 94), Commanding Officer in Patrol Coastal Crew CHARLIE and Flag Secretary in Carrier Strike Group TWO (CSG 2). He has completed five Western Pacific/Arabian Gulf deployments, including deployments in support of Operation Southern Watch and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Ashore, CDR Chekouras served at SWOSCOLCOM in Newport, RI, as an instructor for Prospective Damage Control Assistance and at Special Operations Command AFRICA in Stuttgart, Germany, as the Operational/Logistic Branch Chief (North/Northwest Africa Region).
CDR Chekouras' additional education includes a Master of Business Administration, from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI as well as earning his JPME Phase I from the Naval War College. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (2), Navy Achievement Medal (2) and various unit and campaign awards.
