Lieutenant Commander Mabini was born in Los Angeles, California and raised primarily in Stockton, California. He graduated from high school in Littleton, Colorado where he received an appointment to attend the U.S. Naval Academy. He received his commission from the U.S. Naval Academy in May 1997, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in English with a Minor in Japanese. He also completed his Master of Science Degree in Modeling and Virtual Environment Simulations (MOVES) and his Joint Professional Military Education (Phase I) at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
LCDR Mabini began his sea duty aboard USS Reid (FFG 30) where he served as the Communications Division Officer. After decommissioning USS Reid, he finished his first Division Officer Tour aboard USS Lake Champlain (CG 57) as the First Lieutenant. He then served as the Auxiliaries Division Officer and Main Propulsion Forward Group Officer aboard USS Constellation (CV 64). He served his Department Head tours as the Engineering Officer aboard USS Ingraham (FFG 61), and then as the Materiel Officer (N4) for Commander, Destroyer Squadron 9. His most recent tour was as the Flag Secretary (N1) for Commander, Carrier Strike Group Eleven.
LCDR Mabini’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various other unit and service awards.
