USS Higgins Sideboys Render Honors to Congressman Rob Wittman
Congressman Rob Wittman received a traditional navy greeting from the ships Commanding Officer, Commander Andrew Carlson and crew on Monday, April 2nd. Congressman Rob Wittman was visiting various naval installations and ships in the San Diego area in an effort to better understand the Navy’s ship building needs.
Congressman Wittman is currently serving his second term as the representative for Virginia's 1st Congressional District. Additionally, he serves on the Seapower and Expeditionary Forces Subcommittee of the House Armed Forces Committee.

After learning that Congressman Wittman requested to visit a Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) ship, HIGGINS enthusiastically took the opportunity to display her BMD capabilities. Following a five star lunch with HIGGINS Sailors from Virginia’s 1st District, Congressman Wittman and his staff experienced a BMD scenario in the ships Combat Information Center before departing.
