USS Higgins Hosts Canadian warship 
The Canadian warship HMCS VANCOUVER (FFH 331) was welcomed Sunday, February 12 by its host ship USS HIGGINS (DDG 76).  
 
San Diego, CA - The Canadian warship HMCS VANCOUVER (FFH 331) was welcomed Sunday, February 12 by its host ship USS HIGGINS (DDG 76) as it moored to pier 2 on Naval Base San Diego. The Canadian Frigate’s captain, Commander Mazur, was greeted by Commander Andrew Carlson, Commanding Officer of USS HIGGINS, and Captain Winton Smith, Commanding Officer of Naval Base San Diego. HMCS VANCOUVER is returning to its homeport of Esquimalt, British Columbia after a seven month deployment supporting NATO in the Libyan civil war. The frigate contributed to Operation Unified Protector and Operation Active Endeavor. Upon arrival in San Diego, the HIGGINS’s Wardroom hosted the Officers of the HMCS VANCOUVER for dinner at the Lincoln Room in downtown San Diego.  In the days following, the two commands participated in some friendly competition, joining the two softball teams for a quick game.  HIGGINS saw the frigate off on Wednesday, February 15, wishing them a safe return home.
