CDR Andrew G. Liggett
Commanding Officer

Andy Liggett accepted an appointment to the US Naval Academy in 1992 and graduated in 1996 with a B.S. in Systems Engineering. He holds an M.A. in Organizational Management from George Washington University.

His initial sea duty assignment was in USS ANZIO (CG 68), where he served as OI Division Officer and Navigator. He then served in USS CURTS (FFG 38) as Navigator. Upon Completion of Department Head School in 2004, he served as Operations Officer in USS MUSTIN (DDG 89) and Operations Officer for Commander, Destroyer Squadron SEVEN. He also served as Flag Secretary to Commander, Carrier Strike Group EIGHT / EISENHOWER Strike Group.

Ashore, Commander Liggett served on the immediate staff of the Secretary of the Navy and as Department of Defense Liaison to the White House Communications Office. Additionally, he served as an Action Officer at the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.

Commander Liggett's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), and the Navy Achievement Medal.

Commander Liggett reported to USS DECATUR (DDG 73) in May 2012 as Executive Officer and Fleet-up to Commanding Officer in December 2013.
