WELCOME ABOARD Shipmate! Congratulations on your orders to USS DECATUR (DDG 73), home ported in San Diego, California. USS DECATUR is assigned to Destroyer-Squadron SEVEN under Commander Carrier Strike Group SEVEN/RONALD REAGAN CARRIER STRIKE GROUP.
USS DECATUR is the 23RD Arleigh Burke AEGIS Class Destroyer built in namesake of Commodore Stephen Decatur. The fifth ship to bear the namesake. The Ship’s motto is, “In Pursuit of Peace,” A tribute to Commodore Decatur’s legacy that is reflected in our crew’s pride and professionalism in being “Always Ready”.

A sponsor will be assigned to you, to assist with your assignment to USS DECATUR and location to San Diego. If the ship is underway when you report, Regional Support Organization (BLDG 55), located at NAVSTA San Diego, will provide you with assistance with getting to the ship. If the ship is deployed out of the area report to Transient Personnel Unit (TPU) Bldg 56 Naval Station San Diego for travel arrangements. You can also contact TPU at (619) 556-5272. In the event you meet the ship while deployed overseas, you are strongly encouraged to bring only one sea bag of military and civilian clothes. You are required to have all military uniforms on hand when reporting. Storage is limited and personal space is at a premium. Our mailing address is;
