Command Master Chief
A native of Jackson, Michigan, Master Chief Henderson enlisted in the Navy in 1994 and attended Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois. Following Fireman Apprenticeship training, he reported to USS Holland (AS-32) home ported in Agana, Guam.
During his tour on Holland he was selected to attend Submarine and Electronics Technician School. Following Submarine training, he reported to USS Michigan (SSBN 727) home ported in Bangor, Washington were he completed six deterrent patrols and qualified submarines.
Master Chief Henderson's follow-on sea duty assignments included a tour on the USS City of Corpus Christi (SSN 705) and USS Buffalo (SSN 715) as Communications Division Leading Chief Petty Officer. During these assignments he completed numerous missions vital to national security in the Seventh Fleet.
In March 2010 he reported to USS Hampton (SSN 767) as Chief of the Boat (COB) where he completed a Fifth Fleet Deployment in 2011. During his tour as COB, Hampton received the Submarine Squadron 11 Battle Efficiency E Award for 2010 and 2011 and The Marjorie Sterrett Battleship Fund award for 2011. Ashore, Master Chief Henderson served on the Staff of Submarine Group EIGHT in Naples, Italy, as the Submarine Radioman for Submarine Squadron 15 in Guam and then again in 2012 as the Command Master Chief for Commander, Submarine Squadron 15. Master Chief Henderson is currently assigned to USS DECATUR (DDG 73) as the Command Master Chief.
Master Chief Henderson is a graduate of the Chief of the Boat and Command Master Chief Capstone course and the Senior Enlisted Academy. He is entitled to wear the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
