CDR Mary Katey Hays
Commanding Officer

Commander Mary Katey Hays, a native of Tampa, Florida, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1999.

Sea duty assignments include: Engineer Officer in USS CARNEY (DDG 64) and USS ANTIETAM (CG 54), and Navigator and Damage Control Assistant in USS MILIUS (DDG 69).

Ashore, Commander Hays has served as the Commander, THIRD Fleet Scheduler and as the Congressional Liaison in the Surface Warfare Division of the OPNAV Staff. Additionally, she completed an Individual Augmentation assignment with Seal Team ONE, deploying to Iraq as the Civil Affairs Team Officer in Charge.

Commander Hays holds a Master of Arts degree in National Security Affairs (Middle East subspecialty) from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and graduated from the Defense Language Institute with a certification in Modern Standard Arabic.

Commander Hays's personal awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), and Navy Achievement Medal (two awards).
