Commander Lopez graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1995 and has since served in Joint and Navy positions in the Atlantic, Pacific and Middle East.
Commander Lopez began his career as a Surface Warfare Officer by spending three months with the Argentine Navy aboard their 27-mast tall ship, LIBERTAD. His first division officer tour was aboard USS SAN JACINTO (CG-56). Following this tour, he was the Officer-in-Charge of the military department aboard USNS KANAWHA (T-AO 196). Lieutenant Commander Lopez is a plank owner on USS CHAFEE (DDG 90) where he served his Department Head tours. He also served on the staff of Destroyer Squadron One in various leadership positions.
Commander Lopez was last assigned to Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS). He has also completed an Individual Augmentation (IA) tour on the staff of Multi-National Corps - Iraq (MNC-I) in Iraq.
Commander Lopez graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, with a Master of Science degree in Information Technology Management and from the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Computer Science.
