SH1 Devon Luter 

Ship’s Serviceman First Class Petty Officer (SW) Devon Luter hails from Rota, Spain and enlisted in the United States Navy on Dec. 19, 2000. He attended Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. where he earned “Top Recruit” honors and was advanced to seaman apprentice. Upon completion of recruit training, he attended Ship’s Serviceman Class “A” School in Meridian, Miss. where he finished at the top of his class and was awarded Accelerated Advancement to petty officer third class.

He was assigned to his first duty station aboard USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20), where he deployed to the Mediterranean, qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, received his first Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and was promoted to petty officer second class with the Command Advancement Program for his superior performance. He transferred to the USS Monterey (CG 61) and was appointed as the S-3 Assistant Leading Petty Officer, earning his second Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He reported to Navy Recruiting Command in Millington, Tenn. and was awarded his first Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal while serving as the N3 Waivers Clerk Leading Petty Officer.

He obtained the prestigious “Best of Class” award while serving as the S-3/Supply Department Leading Petty Officer aboard USS Lake Erie (CG 70). While assigned as X-Division Leading Petty Officer at Naval Shipyard Pearl Harbor, he spent over 1,000 hours training and preparing ships for their upcoming Supply Management Certification (SMC). Currently, he is stationed aboard USS Hopper (DDG 70) as S-3/Supply Department Leading Petty Officer.

Petty Officer Luter's personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and various service and campaign awards.
