|Commander Brian Collier
Executive Officer (March 2009 - March 2011)
Commander Brian Collier was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and was commissioned in 1993 as an Ensign through Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island.
His initial sea tour was in USS JOHN A. MOORE (FFG 19), homeported in San Diego, CA, serving as Anti Submarine Warfare Officer and Ordnance Officer. In 1997, he was assigned to USS NEW ORLEANS (LPH 11), also in San Diego, as the Electrical Officer. Following his assignment in USS NEW ORLEANS, he was assigned to SPECIAL BOAT UNIT TWELVE, Coronado, CA , serving as Officer-In-Charge of an 11 Meter Rigid Inflatable Boat Detachment.
After Department Head School, CDR Collier reported as Operations Officer in USS ARTHUR W. RADFORD (DD 968), homeported in Norfolk, VA. Following his assignment in USS ARTHUR W. RADFORD, he was assigned to USS NASHVILLE (LPD 13), also in Norfolk, VA , as the Operations Officer. In 2007, he was assigned to USS TARAWA (LHA 1), homeported in San Diego, CA , as the Operations Officer.
Ashore, CDR Collier has served as the FFG-7 Weapons Officer Course Lead at Surface Warfare Officer School, Newport, RI, and as the Operational Support Officer and Assistant Operations Officer at Commander Amphibious Group TWO, Norfolk, VA. Additionally, CDR Collier served as the Horn of Africa Branch Chief in the Operations Plans Division of United States Central Command during an Individual Augmentation assignment. CDR Collier is currently assigned as the Executive Officer in USS MILIUS (DDG 69).
CDR Collier’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal ( 4 awards) and various unit awards and service ribbons.
