Commanding Officer (April 2009 -Apil 2011)
Commander Trevor King graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1991 with a B.S. in Economics and calls Spring Grove, Illinois, his hometown. He is a first generation naval surface warfare officer.
His afloat tours include assignment as Executive Officer in USS MUSTIN (DDG 89); Commissioning Commanding Officer in USS TORNADO (PC 14); Operations Officer inUSS JOHN S. MCCAIN (DDG 56); Navigator and Commissioning Communications Officer in USS VICKSBURG (CG 69).
Ashore, he most recently served as the Surface Combatant, Amphibious and Sealift Programs Officer in the Naval Office of Legislative Affairs in Washington, D.C. Prior to his tour in the Pentagon, he worked on Capitol Hill as the Legislative Fellow to Senator Trent Lott (R-Mississippi). He has been assigned to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) including service as a Program Integrator, Sea Based Missile Defense, Executive Assistant to the Ballistic Missile Defense System Technical Director and Executive Assistant to the Program Director, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (Aegis BMD) program directorate. He has also been assigned as a recruiter to the United States Naval Academy as a Regional Director of Admissions for the Central United States.
Commander King’s advanced education includes Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) via the Naval War College Non-resident Seminar and he earned a Master’s Degree in National Security Strategy (NSS) from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C at the National War College.
His personal awards include the Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), the Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various unit awards.
