A native of Long Beach, California, Commander Steve Shedd graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering.

His afloat tours include assignment as South Asia/Oceania Policy and Exercise Officer on the staff of U.S. Seventh Fleet embarked aboard USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19), Combat Systems Officer and Commissioning Weapons Officer in USS CHUNG-HOON (DDG 93), Tomahawk Mission Planner at Afloat Planning System Pacific (APSPAC) with concurrent assignment as OIC of the Carrier Group Five APS Detachment embarked aboard USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63), and Damage Control Assistant in USS O’BRIEN (DD 975).

Ashore, Commander Shedd most recently served in the Surface Officer Assignments Division of Navy Personnel Command (PERS-41) including service as the Director of Strategic Communications and Junior Officer Special Programs Coordinator.

Commander Shedd is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School earning a Master of Science degree in Computer Science. He also completed phase one of Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) through Naval War College Monterey.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), the Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.

Commander Shedd assumed his current duties as Commanding Officer in November 2, 2012.
