CMDCM Matt Lashley
Command Master Chief

Master Chief Lashley hails from Stockton, CA and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June 1999. After completing Boot Camp at RTC Great Lakes, he attended Quartermaster “A” School in Great Lakes, IL. His first duty assignment was with USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) in Yokosuka, Japan.

His subsequent tours include COMSEVENTHFLT in Yokosuka, Japan where he served as the Leading Petty Officer and advance to First Class Petty Officer. In 2005, QM1 Lashley transferred to the USS John S McCain (DDG 56). In 2008, QM1 Lashley transferred to Recruit Training Command to become a company commander to help transform over 440 civilians into Sailors and was selected to be a Fleet Quality Assurance (FQA) Inspector. He earned his Master Training Specialist qualification and was selected to Chief Petty Officer.

In 2011, Chief Lashley served as the Leading Chief Petty Officer for Navigation/Admin Department onboard USS McCampbell (DDG 85) where he completed multiple deployments and was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer.

Senior Chief Lashley graduated from Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 178 “Blue”) in February 2014, as an honor graduate and the recipient of the prestigious Peter Tomich Award for exceptional military excellence. He reported to Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific as the senior Navigation trainer and assessor. He earned his Afloat Training Specialist qualification, and was selected to Master Chief Petty Officer in April 2016. In October 2016, he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader.

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from American Intercontinental University.

His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (thee awards), Navy Achievement Medal (four awards), and various other personal and unit awards.

Selected for the Command Master Chief program, he assumed duties as the USS Benfold (DDG 65) CMC in May, 2017.
