Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, CDR Eder graduated from the North Carolina State University in December, 1990 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Reserve Commission through the NROTC Program.
He has been a Full Time Support (FTS) Officer since returning to active duty in 1996.
Previous afloat assignments have included both Communications Officer and Electrical Officer onboard USS BOWEN (FF/FFT 1079) homeported in Norfolk, VA and New York City, NY; Combat Information Center Officer onboard USS SPRUANCE (DD 963) homeported in Mayport, FL; Engineer and subsequent Executive Officer onboard USS BLACK HAWK (MHC 58), and Executive Officer onboard USS DEFENDER (MCM 2), both homeported in Ingleside, TX; Executive Officer onboard USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54) homeported in Yokosuka, Japan; Current Operations Officer (N3A) and subsequent Acting Operations Officer (N3) on the staff of EXPEDITIONARY STRIKE GROUP ONE (ESG 1) homeported in San Diego, CA.
Previous shore assignments have included Reserve Component billets while assigned as a drilling Reservist at Navy Operational Support Centers Raleigh, NC and Norfolk, VA; Flag Secretary to COMMANDER, MINE WARFARE COMMAND, Corpus Christi, TX; FTS Surface Officer Assignments and subsequent Deputy Branch Head for all FTS Officer Detailing and Assignments at NAVY PERSONNEL COMMAND, Millington, TN; and JOINT COUNTER RADIO-CONTROLLED IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE ELECTRONIC WARFARE (JCREW) Fielding Director for JOINT CREW COMPOSITE SQUADRON ONE (JCCS 1), Baghdad, Iraq.
CDR Eder is a graduate of the INDUSTRIAL COLLEGE OF THE ARMED FORCES at the NATIONAL DEFENSE UNIVERSITY, Washington, D.C. with a Masters Degree in National Resource Strategy, focusing on the Transportation Industry and with a Regional Securities Study of Northeast Asia, as well as a graduate certificate of completion in the Supply Chain Management Concentration Program.
CDR Eder has been awarded the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal.
