Native of Albany, NY, Commander Seymour grew up in Branchburg, NJ but calls Port Orchard, WA home. She graduated from Union College in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

At sea, her assignments include First Division Officer in USS ASHLAND (LSD 48), Reactor Mechanical Division in USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70), Operations Officer in USS MOMSEN (DDG 92) and Main Propulsion Assistant in USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74).

Ashore, she served as the Navigation Instructor at Cornell University NROTC Unit, as Speechwriter for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Staff, and as Officer in Charge of the Naval Air Forces Pacific, Nuclear Propulsion Maintenance and Training Group in Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

Commander Seymour qualified as Naval nuclear engineer in 2001 and earned a Master of Arts degree in English Literature from Cornell University.

Her awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy Achievement Medal and various campaign and unit awards.

USS Russell Departs Pearl Harbor for Hull Swap with USS Halsey
PEARL HARBOR - The guided-missile destroyer USS Russell (DDG 59) departs Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam for the last time. The crew is scheduled to swap hulls with USS Halsey (DDG 97) out of San Diego in late January.
