A native of Ferguson, North Carolina, Command Master Chief Horton entered the Navy in March 1989. He completed Basic Training at Recruit Training Command (RTC) San Diego, California and Mess Management Specialist “A” School in San Diego, California. He has completed Food Service Administration C School. He is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 11 and the Command Master Chief Course.

His sea duty tours include USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19) Yokosuka, Japan, USS INDEPENDENCE (CV 62) Yokosuka, Japan, VFA 27, Atsugi, Japan, USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG 48) Yokosuka, Japan, USS COWPENS (CG 63) Yokosuka, Japan, and Commander Task Force Seven Zero Yokosuka, Japan, USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62) Yokosuka, Japan, and USS JOHN S MCCAIN (DDG 56)

Ashore, Command Master Chief Horton served at Naval Computer Telecommunication Station Kamiseya, Japan.

Master Chief Horton is qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Aviation Warfare Specialist.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards) and various campaign and unit awards.
