Commander Fegley hails from Gosnell, Arkansas. He attended Arkansas State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1994 and earned his commission through OCS in 1995.
His division officer tours include duty as STREAM Officer onboard USS MONONGAHELA (AO-178) from Jan 1996 to Mar 1998, where he qualified Surface Warfare Officer, and then Main Propulsion Assistant onboard USS THOMAS S. GATES (CG-51) from Apr 1998 to Mar 2000. His department head tours were Chief Engineer onboard USS ROOSEVELT (DDG-80) from Jan 2003 to Aug 2004 deploying with JFK Strike Group, and then Chief Engineer onboard USS PORT ROYAL (CG-73) from Aug 2004 to Apr 2006 deploying with Expeditionary Strike Group Three.
His shore assignments include Naval Postgraduate School where he graduated with a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering. Additionally, he was assigned to Naval Personnel Command as Placement Officer for War Colleges, Shore Stations, and Surface Material. CDR Fegley also holds a Master of Science in Operational Management from University of Arkansas.
In Febuary 2009, he reported to USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54) as Executive Officer.
