A native of New Britain, CT, Simon McKeon graduated from New Britain High School and received his commission from U.S. Naval Academy in 1998.

Sea tours include: Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer onboard USS ANZIO (CG 68), Navigator onboard USS DOYLE (FFG 39), Weapons and Combat Systems Officer onboard USS DECATUR (DDG 73) where he successfully coordinated the first exo-atmospheric engagement of a Ballistic Target by an Arleigh Burke Destroyer (FTM-12 STELLAR ATHENA) as well as support to the engagement of a malfunctioning US Satellite filled with hydrazine (Operation BURNT FROST).

Shore tour include: Assistant Surface Ops at COMUSNAVEUR, Fleet Management Officer at COMSIXTHFLT/ COMUSNAVEUR/ COMUSNAVAF/CTF-6 (during Operation ODYSSEY DAWN), and Manpower and Training Action Officer on OPNAV N9I, Warfare Integration. He earned a Masters degree and JPME from the British Joint Services Academy.

CDR McKeon is currently serving as Executive Officer onboard USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54). His Personal awards include: Navy Service Medal (2 awards), Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), and Navy Achievement Medal (4 awards).
