|CDR Simon McKeon
A native of New Britain, CT, Simon McKeon graduated in 1998 from the U.S. Naval Academy with a B.S. in Science with a minor in Spanish.
His Sea tours include: Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer onboard USS ANZIO (CG 68), Navigator onboard USS DOYLE (FFG 39), Weapons and Combat Systems Officer onboard USS DECATUR (DDG 73) where he coordinated the first successful exo-atmospheric engagement of a Ballistic Target by an Arleigh Burke Destroyer (FTM-12 STELLAR ATHENA) as well as support to the engagement of a malfunctioning U.S. Satellite filled with Hydrazine, Operation BURNT FROST.
Shore tour include: Assistant Surface Ops at COMUSNAVEUR, Fleet Management Officer at COMSIXTHFLT/ COMUSNAVEUR/ COMUSNAVAF/CTF-6 during Operation ODYSSEY DAWN, and Manpower and Training Action Officer on OPNAV N9I, Warfare Integration. He earned a Masters degree in Defense Studies and Joint Professional Military Education from the British Joint Services Academy.
CDR McKeon served as Executive Officer onboard USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54) and assumed command on January 2017. His Personal awards include: Navy Service Medal (2 awards), Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), and Navy Achievement Medal (4 awards).
