|CDR Hans De For
CDR Hans De For grew up in Austin, MN. He served as a Torpedoman Second Class while on active duty onboard USS JOSEPHUS DANIELS (CG 27) and as a Reservist in the SUBASE PEARL HARBOR Unit from St. Paul, Minnesota. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in History and received his commission in 1996 while at the University of Minnesota NROTC Unit.
His first tour of duty was aboard USS CARNEY (DDG 64), where he served as the Anti-Submarine warfare Officer. In August 1999, CDR De For reported to USS MCINERNEY (FFG 8) as the Auxiliaries Officer.
Following his first shore tour, CDR De For reported to the USS LASSEN (DDG 82) as the Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer. During this tour, CDR De For was awarded the Junior Officer Excellence in Tactics Award for 2005 by DESRON 15. His most recent sea tour was as Executive Officer of USS LEYTE GULF (CG 55).
CDR De For attended the Naval War College's College of Naval Command and Staff where he completed his Joint Professional Military Education 1 and obtained a Master's Degree in National Security Studies, graduating with Distinction. CDR De For's tours ashore include Officer Recruiter in Naval Recruiting District Minneapolis and Special Operations Planner with Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR). While with SOCEUR, CDR De For deployed to ISAF SOF Headquarters in Kabul, serving as the plankowner Deputy Director for Operations in the Special Operations Fusion Cell.
CDR De For's awards include the Joint Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit and service awards.
