130114-N-DH124-074 SAN DIEGO (January 14, 2013) The guided-missile destroyer USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110) departs San Diego for a Western Pacific deployment as part of the Nimitz Strike Group, in Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 23. The DESRON is deploying with approximately 1,200 Sailors and will focus on maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts, which help establish conditions for regional stability.
