Command Master Chief (March 2011 - March 2013)
Command Master Chief Beverly Leedom reported to Pre-Commissioning Detachment William P. Lawrence (DDG-110) July 2009. Enlisted in the Navy 1984 as a non-designated striker in Huntington Park, California. After completing basic training, she was assigned to CINCPACFLT Pearl Harbor Hawaii where she met her mentor RMCM Thomas Hermanson. Master Chief Hermanson instilled in her a strong work ethic and Navy core values and which she still has today.
She attended Dental "A" school in 1986 where she excelled as the class leader, her first leadership role. After completing school, her first duty station was Naval Dental Center, San Diego where she served as the Fleet Liaison Petty Officer. After completing her tour, she served aboard USS CAMDEN (AOE 2), where she was honored to be selected to Chief Petty Officer. In her following tour at the Construction Battalion Center in Port Hueneme, she was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer. In 2003, she was selected to Master Chief Petty Officer while serving at Navy Medical Education and Training Command as the Dental “C” School Program Manager.
Master Chief Leedom transferred to the United States Naval Hospital Yokosuka, Japan in August 2005 and was the Senior Enlisted Advisor of the seven detachments located throughout the Pacific Rim. She assumed the duties as the Command Master Chief in April of 2006 . Command Master Chief Leedom reported to the William P. Lawrence (DDG-110) in July 2009. Command Master Chief Leedom has numerous awards which include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards).
