On July 6, 2010, USS STOCKDALE hosted 25 NJROTC students from Troy High School in Fullerton, California and La Habra High School from La Habra, California for the ship’s day-long trip underway to Seal Beach. The morning started early with the students gathering on the Mess Decks to listen to presentations by STOCKDALE crew members explaining their day-to-day jobs and how each and every Sailor, division, and department contributes to the overall mission on a Navy warship. Following the presentations, the students took a tour of the ship and were able to observe the bridge watchstanders in action. Each student took a tour of the bridge and learned the jobs of the Helmsman, Quartermaster, Conning Officer, and Officer of the Deck. STOCKDALE was honored to be able to contribute to the training of one of the nation’s premier NJROTC programs, and it was a great way to share a day with some of the Navy’s future officers.
