Lieutenant Commander John Halttunen
Executive Officer

A native of Missoula, Montana, Lieutenant Commander John Halttunen graduated from the University of Idaho in 2000 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Following successful completion of the Navy nuclear propulsion training pipeline, Lieutenant Commander Halttunen served at sea as Reactor Propulsion and Mechanical Division Officer in USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70), Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer in USS COWPENS (CG 63), Combat Systems Officer in USS RODNEY M. DAVIS (FFG 60), and as Reactor Electrical Assistant in USS NIMITZ (CVN 68). He also served on exchange to the Royal Navy as Operations Officer and Mine Warfare Officer in HMS GRIMSBY and HMS WALNEY.

Lieutenant Commander Halttunen has served ashore in the Pentagon as the Alternate Designated Federal Officer and Staff Analyst for the Secretary of the Navy’s Advisory Panel.
