|CDR John Halttunen
A native of Missoula, Montana, Commander John Halttunen graduated from the University of Idaho in 2000 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Following successful completion of the Navy nuclear propulsion training pipeline, Commander Halttunen served at sea as Reactor Propulsion and Mechanical Division Officer in USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70), Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer in USS COWPENS (CG 63), Combat Systems Officer in USS RODNEY M. DAVIS (FFG 60), and as Reactor Electrical Assistant in USS NIMITZ (CVN 68). He also served on exchange to the Royal Navy as Operations Officer and Mine Warfare Officer in HMS GRIMSBY and HMS WALNEY. His most recent sea assignment was as Executive Officer in USS STOCKDALE (DDG 106).
Commander Halttunen has served ashore as a Staff Officer for the Secretary of the Navy’s Advisory Panel and Commander Naval Surface Forces.
