ET1(SW/AW) James M. Kyne III
Electronics Technician First Class Petty Officer James M. Kyne III is a native of Vacavilla, CA. He enlisted in the Navy in April 1997 and attended Basic Training Recruit Training Command Great lakes, IL. Upon completion on Basic Training he attended Basic Electronics Technical Core and Electronics Technician “A” School.
After “A” School, Perry Officer Kyne reported to Fleet Maritime Patrol Mobile Operation Command Center, MIDPAC where he deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch and Operation Enduring Freedom. For his second sea tour he reported to Fleet Maritime Patrol Mobile Operation Command Center, WESTPAC where he deployed o the Republic of the Philippines in support of Joint Special Operation Task Forces-Philippines.
Ashore Petty Officer Kyne reported to Assault Craft Unit Five in Camp Pendleton, Ca where he served as the R-4 LPO and Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) communications and radio instructor. While ashore he earned his associates of Science in Aviation Sciences.
Petty Officer Kyne is currently Assigned as Combat Electronics Division LPO, USS Dewey (DDG-105) where he is responsible for leading 16 personnel in the maintenance of exterior and interior communications and the RADAR/navigation suites.
Petty Officer Kyn’s awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards) and various unit and campaign awards. He was recognized as the Commander Patrol and Reconnaissance Force pacific Junior Sailor of the year, USS Dewey’s 2011 Sailor of the year and Destroyer Squadron 21 Sailor of the year.
