2016 SOY Finalist (Sea) - LS1(SW/AW) Kristie L. Pierre
 

Originally from Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Logistics Specialist First Class Kristie L. Pierre entered Basic Training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, in 2000. Upon completion of basic training, she reported to the Fort Jackson, South Carolina, for Postal Clerk ‘A’ School.

At sea, she served five years aboard USS Tarawa (LHA 1) where she completed one deployment. While onboard Tarawa, she was advanced to Petty Officer Third Class and earned both Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist pins.

Leaving sea duty, she reported to Training Support Center San Diego, NMAWC Base Point Loma, ASW detachment where she advanced to Petty Officer Second Class. She then transferred to Fleet Logistics Center Sigonella in Sicily to run the Fleet Mail Center and converted to Logistics Specialist during a rating merger. Upon completing her overseas tour, Pierre transferred to Joint Military Postal Activity-Pacific in Los Angeles before the unit was decommissioned and she requested to go back to sea.

In February 2013, she reported to USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) and advanced to LS1 shortly after, and requested a leadership opportunity at another command. She was assigned to the Supply Department onboard USS Dewey (DDG 105) where she serves as the Leading Petty Officer.

Petty Officer Pierre’s awards include the Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and various unit, campaign and service awards.
