Master Chief Petty Officer Lattimer enlisted in the Navy in 1983. He completed Recruit Training in May 1983 and graduated from Radioman "A" School in October 1983.
At sea, he served in USS Wichita (AOR 1) as Radio Supervisor; USS Samuel Gompers (AD 37) as Teletype and Crypto repair Shop Leading Petty Officer; USS HARRY W. HILL (DD 986) as Communications Leading Petty Officer, USS Vincennes (CG 47) as Communications Division Leading Chief Petty Officer; Sea Control Squadron Three Three (VS 33) as Command Master Chief; and most recently in Command Assault Craft Unit One (ACU 1) as Command Master Chief.
While at sea he completed seven Western Pacific and Persian Gulf Deployments in support of Battle Group and Surface Action Group operations and one Caribbean Deployment in support of Counter Narcotic operations.
Ashore his tours include Naval Radio Transmitting Facility Capas, Republic of the Philippines as a Transmitter Operator; Fleet Combat Training Center Pacific, San Diego, CA as Teletype Shop Leading Petty Officer; Afloat Training Pacific, San Diego CA as an Afloat Instructor and Leading Chief Petty Officer for the C2W/C4I Division and Naval Air Facility El Centro CA where he served as Administration Officer and Command Master Chief.
Master Chief Petty Officer Lattimer has been assigned as the commissioning crew Command Master Chief in PCU Dewey (DDG 105). As the Command Master Chief, he is the senior enlisted sailor in Dewey and as such works as a liaison between the Commanding Officer and the enlisted ranks. In this capacity he advises and assists the Commanding Officer in issues of quality of life, discipline, training, and morale.
Master Chief Petty Officer Lattimer completed the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 113) and Command Master Chief Capstone course in October 2004. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four Awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
