|CDR Paul Lorio
A native of New Roads, Louisiana, Commander Paul Lorio began his naval career at the United States Naval Academy where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and received his Commission in May of 2000.
His first assignment was as a division officer in USS STOUT (DDG-55) home-ported in Norfolk, Virginia. There he served as the Electrical Officer, First Lieutenant, Gunnery Officer, and Anti- Terrorism Officer through two deployments to the Arabian Gulf and Mediterranean Sea. In December 2003, CDR Lorio reported to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, where he earned a Master of Science in Operations Analysis and completed Phase I of his Professional Military Education.
In January of 2007, CDR Lorio reported to USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG-60) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, as the Engineer Officer and deployed to the Western Pacific. In July of 2008, he reported to Commander, Destroyer Squadron ONE where he served as squadron Materiel Officer. CDR Lorio next served as Executive Officer in MCM Crew DOMINANT in December of 2009 and deployed in USS SCOUT (MCM 8) to the Arabian Gulf. In April of 2010, MCM Crew DOMINANT embarked USS CHAMPION (MCM 4) in San Diego, California, where CDR Lorio assumed command of the Crew and CHAMPION on August 6th, 2010. In May of 2011, MCM Crew DOMINANT deployed to the Arabian Gulf where he assumed command of SCOUT.
In November of 2011 CDR Lorio reported to Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff and Senior Engineering Inspector for the N45, TYCOM Material Inspection Team directorate. Following his tour at CNSP, CDR Lorio reported to the Naval Mine and ASW Command (NMAWC) as the Mine Warfare Commander (MIWC) Operations Officer. NMAWC transitioned to the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) in 2015 where CDR Lorio served until March of 2016.
CDR Lorio’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal, and various unit and campaign decorations.
