Commander Jake Douglas originally from Palestine, TX enlisted in the Navy in 1984 as a Firecontrol Technician. In 1996 CDR Douglas was commissioned an ensign in the Limited Duty Officer (LDO) Program and in 1999 converted from LDO to Unrestricted Surface Line Officer. CDR Douglas is a graduate of Southern Illinois University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and the Naval War College in Newport, RI where he earned a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.
CDR Douglas’ sea duty assignments include USS BELKNAP (CG 26) as a Terrier Missile Systems Technician, USS O’BRIEN (DD 975) as a Close In Weapons System Technician, USS FORD (FFG 54) as Electronics Material Officer, PCU/USS HOWARD (DDG 83) as Operations Officer, USS YORKTOWN (CG 48) as Operations Officer, USS MOMSEN (DDG 92) as Executive Officer, Destroyer Squadron Fifty as Chief Staff Officer, and USS DEWEY (DDG 105) as Executive Officer.
CDR Douglas has served ashore at Navy Training Center Great Lakes as a Firecontrol “A” School instructor, Tactical Training Group Pacific in San Diego, CA as an instructor for surface warfare tactics and planning, and Naval Surface Forces Pacific as Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for readiness and training.
CDR Douglas’ awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, Navy Commendation Medal with four gold stars, the Navy Achievement Medal with five gold stars and various campaign and service medals.
