USS Sampson Recovers Drugs in SOCAL 
 
 
 
Pacific Ocean (Sept. 26 2011) – Crew members from USS Sampson (DDG 102) recovered approximately 60 bales of assorted drugs from the waters of Southern California. Sampson intercepted a small drug running boat during normal operations in the area as part of Composite Training Unit Exercise. When the small boat dumped its cargo, Sampson dispatched a rigid hull inflatable boat to pick up the bales, which were ultimately transferred to the United States Coast Guard.
