On board, USS Sampson - Being with family over the holidays is important to Sailors. So, Sailors on board the Sampson invited their friends and family to join them for Thanksgiving dinner. This year, the Commanding Officer, Commander Dwayne "Duke" Ducommun, along his family and the executive officer, Commander Teresa Elders, showed their support by serving dinner to the crew and their guests on the mess decks.
While everyone watched the Washington Redskins face off against the Dallas Cowboys, the crew enjoyed a hearty Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, ham, and prime rib with sides of green beans, corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a salad bar complete with dinner rolls. And for dessert, guests could choose from pumpkin pie, cherry pie, peach cobbler, or assorted cheesecakes coupled with a choice of egg nog or coffee.
With so much good food, it's no wonder we ran the PRT before the holidays!
