CDR Teresa E. Elders
Executive Officer (May 2012 - July 2013)

Commander Teresa Elders is a native of San Antonio, Texas, and raised at various military bases. She attended school in New Jersey and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1996. Upon graduation, CDR Elders attended the Royal Military College of Canada and obtained a Master of Arts degree in War Studies.

CDR Elders’s sea tours include: Strike Officer aboard USS MOBILE BAY (CG 53) in Yokosuka, Japan, from 1998-2000, Operations Officer on USS HIGGINS (DDG 76) from 2001-2003, and Operations Officer on USS PRINCETON (CG 59) from 2003-2005. In September 2005, CDR Elders reported to the Commander Australian Amphibious Task Group where she served as the training officer through 2007.

CDR Elders served ashore as a Federal Executive Fellow at the Atlantic Council of the United States in Washington, DC (2007-2008), and as an Action Officer on the Chief of Naval Operations staff (N3/N5, Operations, Policy, and Strategy) from 2009-2011. Between her tours ashore, CDR Elders served as a Global War on Terror Support Augmentee to the European Command staff in Stuttgart, Germany, working for the Secretary to the Joint Staff.

CDR Elders’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards. CDR Elders is also the recipient of the 2005 Navy League of the U.S. Stephen Decatur Award for Operational Competence.
