Command Master Chief

Master Chief Petty Officer Michael Gonzales enlisted in the Navy January 1987 and completed recruit training at RTC San Diego, CA. He graduated from SONAR Technician class "A" school at Fleet Anti Submarine Warfare Training Center Pacific San Diego CA. in May 1987.

His first duty station was aboard USS ROBERT E. PEARY (FF 1073) stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI. His subsequent sea commands were USS BREWTON (FF 1086), USS STETHEM (DDG 63), USS O'KANE (DDG 77), USS HALSEY (DDG 97) As the weapons department leading Chief Petty Officer. Master Chief Gonzales was last assigned to Destroyer Squadron Twenty Three as the Senior Enlisted Leader and Anti Submarine Warfare Officer.

Master Chief Gonzales' shore tours include MK 116 mod 7 ASWCS instructor at Fleet Anti Submarine Warfare Training Center Pacific, San Diego CA. Training and Readiness Center Det. Pearl Harbor, HI and Commander Naval Surface Forces Pacific as the Force Alcohol and Drug Control Officer.

His formal military training includes the MK 116 mod 7 ASWCS operator and maintenance technician, An/SQQ-89(V)15 Journeyman, Senior Enlisted Academy Class 123 (BLUE) and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course class 70.

Master Chief Gonzales holds an Associate degree from Coastline Community College. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various service and unit awards.
