Hollywood Comes To USS Gridley
USS Gridley, Naval Base San Diego – Arleigh Burke Destroyer USS Gridley (DDG 101) had a few special visitors on Saturday, March 16th. The cast and crew of the new action movie “Olympus Has Fallen” came aboard for a tour and to meet Sailors.

Among the group of 30 were actors Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Rick Yune and director Antoine Fuqua. The group toured central control station, the pilot house and took photos with Sailors on the flight deck. During the meet and greet, the celebrities expressed their gratitude for the armed forces and thanked Gridley Sailors for their recent deployment.

After the tour, Gridley Sailors were given reserved seating at the Naval Base San Diego Theater for a special screening of the movie “Olympus Has Fallen” before it was released in theaters nationwide. The actors and director spoke about the filming process and introduced the movie. Gridley Sailors gave the movie “Two Thumbs Up.”

USS Gridley just returned from a sixth month deployment to Fifth and Seventh Fleet areas of operation, supporting high visibility focused operations and several multi-national exercises.
