Command Master Chief

Master Chief Greene hails from Scotia, New York and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in February, 1989. After completing basic training at Recruit Training Command, San Diego, he attended Operations Specialist “A” School in Dam Neck, VA.

His assignments at sea include: USS WISCONSIN (BB 64); Commander, Carrier Group EIGHT (CCG 8), USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG 68), USS O’KANE (DDG 77), USS GRIDLEY (DDG 101), Expeditionary Strike Group TREE (ESG 3) and USS RUSHMORE (LSD 47).

Ashore assignments include: Supreme Headquarters Allied Power Europe (SHAPE), Belgium; Recruit Training Command (RTC), Great Lakes, IL, and Afloat Training Command (ATG), San Diego, CA.

Master Chief Greene has completed two IA tours in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT): Combined Joint Task Force, Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), Camp Lemonier, Djibouti and Combined Joint Task Force EIGHTY-TWO (CJTF 82), Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan.

In February 2013, he was selected for Command Master Chief and a graduate of the Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy (SEA) and Command Leadership Course.

From January 2014 to April 2016, he served as Command Master Chief onboard USS RUSHMORE (LSD 47) where he participated in RIMPAC 2014 and a highly successful 2015 deployment to the Western Pacific and the Adriatic Sea.

In April 2016, he was selected for orders to USS ZUMWALT (DDG 1000) and is currently serving as Command Master Chief onboard the Navy’s first ZUMWALT class Destroyer.

His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), Combat Action Ribbon, and various service and campaign awards.
