|Commander Paul Bieraugel
Commanding Officer (June 2009 - June 2011)
Commander Paul Bieraugel is a native of Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and was commissioned through Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He then completed nuclear propulsion training in Orlando, Florida, and Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Commander Bieraugel completed sea tours as Machinery Division Officer and Navigator on USS CALIFORNIA (CGN 36), Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer on USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DDG 53), Reactor Electrical Assistant on USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN 74), and Executive Officer on USS BENFOLD (DDG 65). During his sea tours he completed several deployments to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf.
Ashore, Commander Bieraugel completed tours in the Intelligence Division at Allied Forces Southern Europe in Naples, Italy and as a member of the Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board at Commander Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. His most recent tours ashore were on the Staff of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information, Plans, and Strategy (N3/N5) and at the National Defense University - both in Washington, D.C. While at the National Defense University he earned a Masters Degree in National Resource Strategy.
Commander Bieraugel has been awarded several personal awards and various campaign and service ribbons.
