Senior Enlisted Leader
Senior Chief Garbe is a native of Hillside, IL. He enlisted in the Delayed Entry Program in July of 1995 at Chicago, IL and attended “boot camp” at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL in June 1996. He completed Operations Specialist “A” School at Fleet Combat Training Center, Atlantic (FCTCLANT) in Virginia Beach, VA in December 1996.
He reported to USS SIDES (FFG-14) in January of 1997 where he completed three deployments in the Arabian Gulf, South China Sea, and participated in OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM as well as several patrols to the Pacific in support of multi-national operations.
He reported to Surface Warfare School Command (SWOS) at Newport, RI in January 2003 where he provided combat tactical training to over 1000 officers ranging from Division Officers to Commanding Officers, and achieved his Master Training Specialist (MTS) Qualification.
He reported to USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69) at Norfolk, VA in February 2006. Assigned as the Senior AICS. He completed one nine-month deployment in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM and supported Maritime Security Operations. He was advanced to Chief Petty Officer in September 2007.
He reported to Naval Hospital Twenty-Nine Palms, CA as the Chief Master-at-Arms and Bachelor Enlisted Quarters Manager from June 2008 to August 2009.
He reported to CARRIER AIR WING ELEVEN (CVW-11) at Lemoore, CA in October 2009 completing one deployment in the Arabian Gulf aboard USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) where he conducted operations in support of OPERATION NEW DAWN and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. Assigned an Individual Augmentee (IA) from October 2010 to October 2011 in Manama, Bahrain.
He reported to Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific in June 2012 as an Air Warfare Lead Instructor and assessor. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class #188 and CMC/COB Course Class 180.
Senior Chief Garbe currently serves as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Commander, Tactical Air Control Group ONE and Air Intercept Controller Supervisor for Expeditionary Strike Group THREE. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
